Democratic Club of Lincoln Park - Representing Democrats in Lincoln Park, New Jersey
Democrats are vital to Lincoln Park

"The mission of the Democratic Club of Lincoln Park is to promulgate and promote to the fullest extent those principles of the Democratic Party as embodied in the policies of local, county state, and national Democratic Party organizations, and in so doing, to nurture the two-party system upon which our democracy is founded."

Although the present Lincoln Park Borough government is heavily dominated by Republicans, things weren't always that way. From 1975 through 1984 there was a Democratic majority on our town council. During this period many of the major zoning changes that have made Lincoln Park what it is today were formulated and put into effect. Over 1100 new housing units were created in the condominium and townhouse developments of Deer Run, Woodland, Skyline, Pine Brook Village, and Hill Top Farm. Single-family zones also saw new construction.

In 1975 through 1980 Democrats led the fight for "Fair Funding for Sewers" that resulted in our community being one of the first towns with sewering plans funded by the Clean Water Act. Lincoln Park received 95 percent Federal and State Aid for this program - over $12 million. Because Democrats have foresight, when we dug up every street in town for sewers, we replaced and extended the water supply system. During this time we also negotiated a second source of public water supply with the Passaic Valley Water Commission and constructed the pipeline under the river to guarantee the potable water supply and the health of our community.

Democrats were also responsible for the raising of Two Bridges Road, over 3 feet in some places, to allow more free access to and from our community during minor flooding.

Democrats established the Recreation Advisory Board; the recycling program; the full-time Health Department; and established the first Seniors Program in the federally-funded Midkiff Center. Unfortunately, when the Republicans rebuilt Borough Hall, they did not include enough space for our Seniors who now must meet at St. Joseph's Church Hall.

Lincoln Park has elected 3 Democratic women as Mayor. In the 1960's Mayor Ruth Mitchell made history as the second woman to be elected Mayor in the State of New Jersey.

The Borough of Lincoln Park is within Congressional District 11, and NJ Legislative District 26. As of June 2011 there were 6,424 registered voters in Lincoln Park.
